And the vine grew and it grew, choking all in its way
So swift was its movement, so dark was the day.
Blame after blame until havoc exploded
A company coo-stew, “It’s not me! No, it’s you!
Signature of Dr. Seuss

Dr. Suess (Wikipedia) started a movement that needs to be brought back and into today's business world. We're here to bring Suessian inspiration.

Negativity is an uncontrollable vine you can’t stop. An environmental virus spreading like a cancer. One that infects the entire office culture and can ruin a product, an idea, an ideal, a community, a company…and YOU.
Something SMELLS in the Office is a book of positive impact, a book that has already changed us, will surely change you, and we hope–with your help–will change countless others.
Dr. Suess books lead the way to a whole new kind of book. We want to take Suess to the next level in business. We are passionate about bringing books like this into the business world where they can create positive change.

The Book
“SMELLS” stands for:
Simply Making Each Leader Lift Someone
Something SMELLS in the Office encourages a positive, infectious office community, and what better way to do that, than through a positive, infectious little book.
Imagine your work is a castle of play. You joust and you juggle.
You dance through your day!We partner for orders with passion and power.
You’re all for each other, each tick of the hour!
Brevity is the soul of wit, and Dr. Seuss must have been the wit of the soul.  But there is a great void now that he is no longer with us, but–as you might have already noticed–he inspires this story.  Something SMELLS in the Office is modeled after his work, a slim volume in Seussian rhyme scheme with accompanying pictures to boot.
Something SMELLS has already been written  by myself,  Craig S. Wilson, and Megan E. Morris, and the great illustrations have been created by Martin Whitmore, but we need funding to produce physical copies of this book.
We are as fond of the e-book revolution as any one, but certain works of beauty still necessitate a physical presence.  This is one.  This is a book you will want to hand out to your team, one you can throw into welcome bags at conferences, that you can issue at orientations, or just present to every single new employee you hire to make them quickly understand your company ethos.
This only happens in the physical form. Stay tuned for more on this exciting new project.
Won’t you join us on this journey to enlighten offices?
Get ready for adventure. Get ready for fun. There is time for play today mixed with great work to be done!
Stay tuned as we launch on Kickstart in one week, right after SWSX!

Sometimes the answers to perplexing questions are so obvious, so abundantly apparent that they are completely overlooked.  Such is the case of our euphemistically captioned “jobs-free” sluggish economic recovery.
Both business and mainstream media seem confounded by this reality, as corporate profits and executive compensation skyrocket to unprecedented levels.  Inevitably the question is raised – but [...]

Want to think wayyyyy “out of the box?” Just ask a child. I just heard from a friend that Peter Senge uses the power of uber creativity by working with children. To help imagine the possibilities connecting with children more often can bring to creativity and innovation, take a look at this recent reply I [...]

I have not taken a longer vacation where I actually tell my clients I am going o vacation, where I actually don’t do work daily, where I actually focus my whole week on not working but playing, resting and enjoying my “down time.” Now I am in Charleston, S.C. visiting my two sisters, kicking back [...]

I just read a great blog article on the Harvard Business Review Blog website on “The Business of Values.” I thought one of the most intriguing findings the author points out is the following:
“Paraphrasing President Lincoln, Nitin Nohria, the very thoughtful new dean of Harvard Business School said, “The real test of a person character is [...]
