1000 Thank you’s: #5: Thank You for Partners

See that guy to my left? That’s my CCO or Chief Creative Officer for Networlding Publishing: Books and More that Make the World Better. He is also my husband.
Craig Wilson or Mr. Wilson as I like to call him, is a true creative. I met him through a wonderful intermediary, a girlfriend who told me he was truly one of the most creative guys she had ever met. She also knew that I was a creative–often misunderstood as being someone with so many “irons in the fire.” What people didn’t understand was that this IS the world of the creative. We can have many projects we are working on at once. We can also be “multi-talented.”
So it was like coming home when my girlfriend introduced me to Craig a little less than six years ago. Within less than three years from the day we met we got married and are having a great time, me writing books and helping others do the same and Craig, writing books and music.
So what are the three things I learned from my search for a great partner? First, never give up. I was ready to stop trying. I met a lot of wonderful guys before I connected with Craig but I was searching for a creative partner. Second, stay optimistic. You will never get anywhere without a good outlook. I know it is easy to say. I can empathize with others. (Secret: I was called “Prune Face” growing up as I was a sad sack. So if I can do it, so can you.) Third, don’t be afraid. I tend to call myself “stupidly courageous.” I had days when I just did not want to get out there and continue dating when I was divorced for seven years, but with the help of good friends and a lot of prayers and stepping out one foot after the other, I did get out and then I met others and then, finally, I met my creative partner. And that, that has made all the difference!
